CREATIVE ENERGY NATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL
HELD AT KEARSNEY COLLEGE IN KWAZULU NATAL JULY 2015.
To all the quilters and quilt friends who submitted quilts to our 2015 festival:
As most South African quilters know, a quilt was mislaid during the taking down process at the end of the festival. Anyone who has ever lost a quilt is aware that this is a great loss. You spend so many hours putting in your best work and pouff it is gone!!!
The quilt is Natashe van Wyk’s “Girl with the sun in her eyes” which was in the challenge category. A while ago a missing quilt in Pietermaritzburg appeared after 2 years - a quilter put her pile of quilts straight into the cupboard and only took them out when she had to display them again. Voila there was a strange quilt in the pile – the missing quilt!! We have continued hoping that Natashe’s quilt would appear in the same way.
We implore all of you to have another good look in the pile of quilting goodies that you took home from the festival to see if Natashe’s small quilt didn’t perhaps get mixed up with your quilts, purchases, gifts or class work. You never know – it has to be somewhere!
If you belong to a sewing group or guild, please talk to your friends and show them this photograph. Please help us spread the word and find Natashe’s quilt so we can return it to her.
