Teachers

SAQG Quilt Teachers’ Accreditation Course will be offered in 2018

The aim of the course is to enhance the knowledge and skills and confidence of quilt teachers, who are teaching currently or who are interested in teaching quilt-making in the future.

The focus is on how to teach quilting effectively, gain knowledge and hone quilt-making techniques, improve and maintain practical skills, make and produce excellent samples. Successful students will attain SAQG Quilt Teacher Accreditation.

It is not a course on how to quilt - it is a course on how to teach quilting. This course is not for beginners or those wishing to improve their skills and knowledge as quilt-makers, in other words - it is not a patchwork or sewing/ quilting course. Beginners or inexperienced quilters should not apply.

The course is a self-study correspondence course over 12 months, divided into three terms from February 2018 - February 2019. There are 7 tutors and 5 subjects that include Quilt Teaching Theory, Quilting Techniques and Terminology, Quilt History, Copyright and Contracts and practical Skills and Tasks.

Who should apply: Quilt teachers, a quilter with experience (over years) in all techniques of patchwork and quilting (by hand and by machine) and the accompanying skills, and who has made quilts in a variety of styles and has a good general knowledge of quilt-making and has enthusiasm and desire to teach quilt-making.

PRE- APPLICATION is necessary

A high standard of work and quilt-making skills is expected.  It must be submitted by 15 November 2017 for approval by the tutors, before the person can register for the course.

Cost: ZAR1800.00 pp paid on registration and this cost is non-refundable.

The student is responsible for any and all costs for the delivery and return of their practical work during the year of study.  The student must be a SAQG member and can be from South Africa and other African countries.

Die koste hiervan is ZAR850 per persoon betaalbaar by her-registrasie. Hierdie koste is nie terugbetaalbaar nie.
