We pay tribute to Marline for her commitment to furthering quilting locally and abroad, for her outstanding quality of prize-winning work and her significant contribution to quilting in general.
Marline joined the Midland Quilters in Hilton (KZN) in the early 1990’s. She had a hand in founding three separate groups - local guilds in Kwa-Zulu Natal, one of which is the St Matthews Guild, established in 2000, where she was chairlady. She started the “Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show” at St Matthews in 2009 and this exhibition proved to be an annual highlight on the quilting calendar in that region.
Marline teaches regularly at National Quilt Festivals and other quilt-related events, and internationally she has taught in Australia, New Zealand, Kuwait, Zimbabwe and England. As an accredited SAQG quilt judge, she judged at guild and national level in South Africa, as well as competitions in Kuwait and Zimbabwe.
Marline served as the representative for KZN on the SAQG committee from 2002 until she retired in 2019.
Marline is the Tutor of Skills and Tasks in the Quilt Teacher Accreditation Courses.
One of her quilts is featured the South African publication “Laslap en Kwilt – Inspirasie uit die Verlede”, LAPA Publishers 2013.
