Marilyn teaches various quiltmaking techniques and creative classes since 1988.
She was awarded Master Quilter status by the SAQG and major awards include Best Machine Workmanship and Best on Show – Art Quilts at the 2011 National Quilt Festival as well as Best Use of Colour at the 2015 National Quilt Festival.
Two of her quilts were part of the South African Exhibitions in 2003 and 2004 in Val D’ Argent, France and another at the World Quilt Carnival in Nagoya, Japan in 2004.
She also participated in the International Challenge World Heritage Sites between South Africa, Korea and Japan in 2011. Marilyn is a member of Fibreworks.
She was President of the SAQG in 2002 to 2004. She is often consulted by SAQG for advice and input.
Marilyn is an active member of the Dias Quilters’ Guild and served on the committee. She has led as the chairlady of two SA National Quilt Festivals hosted by Dias.
